Capacitor discharge welding:
The capacitor discharge welding technique enables threaded or plain studs, dowels, connectors and other special-shaped studs 2 to 8 mm in diameter (10 mm in some cases) to be welded onto steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass supports. The weld and stud feed may be manual or automatic.
In the welding process, the energy stored in a capacitor battery is discharged within a very short time (1 to 3 milliseconds) through the ignition tip of the part being welded. Inert gas or ceramic ferrules do not need to be used.
